What 11.8 inches of depth costs you

A tray. That is the concrete cost, and it is a real one on a gold cart, because a tray is what stops bottles being dragged across a finish that scratches to a different color underneath.

The other cost is subtler: at 11.8 inches deep, a 750 ml bottle at 2.95 inches diameter sits with very little margin from the front edge, and tall bottles near the edge of a wheeled object always look precarious because they are. Load this cart from the back forward.

If you can find 15 inches of depth, the ULRC100A01 is the same cart with room for a tray. If you cannot, this is the compromise worth making — a narrow cart that holds things beats a wide one that does not fit.

Three shelves at this height

36.2 inches with three shelves works out at roughly 9 to 10 inches of usable gap per shelf, which is more than a shorter three-tier cart gets. That is not enough for an 11.8 inch bottle on the lower shelves, so bottles live on top and the two below carry glassware and accessories.

The built-in stem holders help here: they use the dead space under a shelf rather than the shelf itself, which on a cart this narrow is the difference between having somewhere to put glasses and not. The dust caveat is in storing glasses on a bar cart.

Who should buy it

Anyone whose constraint is width rather than depth, who wants a gold cart, and who has somewhere to put a tray other than on the cart. It leads the small-cart roundup for exactly that reason.

Anyone who intends to style the cart with a tray, which is most people. And anyone in a low room: 36.2 inches on an 18.4 inch base is a tall, thin object, and next to a low sofa it reads as taller still.
